don’t forget to retune

Freeview often add new channels or make changes to the channel numbers in preparation for major events, such as the Olympics.  So it is necessary to occasionally retune your Freeview equipment to ensure you can keep watching your favourite channels. In most cases retuning is straightforward and should only take a few minutes.

A full retune can be done using the remote control and on-screen menus, in most cases this is done automatically but sometimes you need to select the "retune" option from a menu.

Where we know about a channel launch or changes, we will try and add a news article so you are aware.  Normally a series of on-screen messages are displayed on your TV when you need to carry out a retune.

At anytime, if you need help or advice about retuning your rental product, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The following steps summarise how to retune your equipment:

  • Switch on your Freeview TV or box.
  • Press 'menu' on your remote control.
  • From the 'menu' options on screen, select the 'set up' or 'installation' menu.
  • Select 'first time installation' option (sometimes called 'factory reset', 'full retune' or 'default settings').
  • Some equipment will ask you for a code, this is usually either 0000 or 1234.
  • Press 'OK' if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels - don’t worry, this is normal.
  • Channels will be automatically installed.
  • This may take a few minutes, and your equipment may shut down and restart.

In the event you need help retuning your rental equipment, please do not hesitate to call us.
